*Hot and Sour Shrimp Salad

Thai food has strong taste because it is always taken with rice which neutralize much of the effect.   Some famous dishes are eaten without rice, like this hot and sour shrimp salad.   It goes well with beer or tall drinks before dinner.   It is guaranteed to wake up your taste bud, sometimes it even makes you forget dinner.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup shelled and cleaned shrimp
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped lemon grass
  • 1 tablespoon sliced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon nampla (fish sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons[ lemon or lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped spring onion and coriander
  • 10 mint leaves
  • 1 lettuce

    METHOD

    Using aluminum foil, wrap the shrimp.   Place on the burner and cook for 2 minutes on each side.   Unwrap and place in a bowl Season with nampla, lemon juice, garlic salt and chili powder mix well.   Add lemon grass, red onion and chopped spring onion and coriander; toss lightly .   Place mixture on serving plate, top with mint leaves, decorate with lettuce.   Serve.
